Planning Tool

Solar Planner

Estimate the solar generation and battery storage your project might need before you choose equipment or finalize a system design.

Build your solar planning estimate

Use simple early-stage assumptions. These results are planning estimates, not an engineering recommendation.

Daily electricity use

Choose a starting point or enter your own estimate in kWh per day.

How the estimate works

The planner estimates solar array size from daily energy use, peak sun hours, and an 86% system-efficiency assumption. Battery storage is based on your selected days of autonomy and usable battery capacity.

Important: This planner is an early-stage estimate, not a solar-system design, engineering recommendation, or equipment quote. Use site-specific solar-resource data where available and verify final sizing with qualified professionals. The model does not account for detailed hourly or seasonal load profiles, shading analysis, panel orientation, inverter sizing, generator integration, battery chemistry, electrical-code requirements, or specific equipment.

Where do peak sun hours come from?

Peak sun hours are a simplified planning input representing equivalent full-sun hours available to a solar array. For a serious project, use location-specific solar-resource information rather than assuming one national value.
